This "cello over the rib" dial caliper model is the first of its kind developed shortly after the M-C clamp. I simply added the best quality Koefer dial (Germany) to my M-C clamp. Easily and rapidly measure the thickness of the cello back with the top off (and the reverse also).

This caliper reaches all the way to the center of the cello at its widest point at the lower bout. The caliper comes equipped with an aluminium handle (if you want the beautiful wooden one as above you'll have to make it yoursel!).

Since the caliper is very thin you can even insert (very carefully) into the F-holes of a Double Bass to measure thickness.

Take measurements while the ribs are glued on!
